In June, Zeus Control was awarded a project to migrate water demineralization control systems at Trillo Nuclear Power Plant. In the plant there are two redundant water treatment lines that producce demineralized water using ion exchange resin technology.
Each treatment line has a control system based on a Simatic S5 range Programmable Logic Controller (PLC): the S5-150A. The Simatic S5 PLCs were widely used during the 1980s and 90s. Nowdays these PLCs are being replaced by those of the Simatic S7 range: state-of-the-art technology and proven reliability. The programmable controllers that will control the demineralization process in the Trillo Nuclear Plant are the S7-400.
The project awarded to Zeus Control includes the aspects of hardware replacement, migration of existing programs, testing to ensure the smooth running of the process and, finally, updating drawings in order to reflect the final state of the control systems.
The project will not be finished before April 2018.
